Heather Parker is a self employed Visual Artist and instructor. She has taught art classes for children and adults through the Visual Arts Center, Art Coop, and two semesters for Encore at the Port St. Joe Campus.
We have a video of Heather discussing her work and her affiliation with ArtCoop.
In Heather's own words...
"I am a self-taught artist and my art reflects my work and personal experiences, my influences and thoughts, and my interactions with other creative beings. Our lives are all intertwined with each other and the stories of others are mixed up with my own. They become one story with many interpretations through my art."
Participants in our class on January 13th will create their own impressionist style painting of the female figure with acrylic paints on 16 x 20 canvases. All supplies and canvas are included. Please bring a light snack to share.
If you have questions, contact Heather Parker, 850 -249-9295 painterparker@yahoo.com or Barbara Holmes, 850-653-8952, holmes@gtcom.net.

Workshop will be held at Artemis Gallery, 252 Water Street, Apalachicola in the Historic Wefing's Building on Jan 13 from 1:30 to 4:30 PM (EST)
One More Reason to Eat More Apalachicola Seafood!
A Royal Palm Beach couple found something rare and unusual in their appetizer on Friday, Dec. 28 and their find could be worth thousands.
George Brock and his wife, Leslie stopped at Dave's Last Resort & Raw Bar in Lake Worth, Florida for a bite after a day at the beach. Brock was about halfway through a plate of steamed clams when he chomped down on something hard - a rare, iridescent purple pearl.
The clams in the $10 plate came from Apalachicola in the Florida Panhandle, restaurant manager Tom Gerry said.
A pearl is a hard, rounded object produced within the soft tissue of a living shellfish. The finest quality pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries.
Clam pearls occur most frequently in large New England quahogs, clams known for violet coloring on the inside of their shells, not in the middle-neck clams that were served to the Brocks.

Bill Mahan, county extension agent, said he has found a pearl in a Cedar Key calm that was "irregular and buffy brown."
Local jewelry designer Kristin Anderson said that she has occasionally designed pieces of jewelry around Apalachicola pearls.
The Brocks are currently awaiting the results of an appraisal of their find.
"Few are round and few are a lovely color, so this is rare," gemologist Antoinette Matlins said in an interview with the Palm Beach Post. "I think they have found something precious and lovely and valuable."
